- It is the referee’s responsibility to keep control of the game. There are no winners or losers. We have asked the coaches to refrain from running up the score. (No more than 6 goal differential as a guide) If you feel that a coach is running up the score please speak to the coach. Give the coach a notice when they are up by 5. The coaches are there to instruct their team, and help you if you need help. However, you have the final say in all matters on the field.
- Keep areas behind the goal clear of people. They tend to be a distraction to the keeper. Kindly ask people to move. If they refuse, ask for the coaches’ help.
- It is not allowed for parents or coaches to yell at a referee. It is not allowed for anyone to approach you on the field unless you say okay. A coach may have a question, and you can answer the question. No parents are allowed to confront you at any time. If you have these problems get help from the coach. You can even stop the game if need be. Always contact the director if you have experienced a problem.
- Be prepared to referee you games(s). You will need a whistle,(please blow this loudly so all can hear) a watch that can track the 10-minute quarters; you must dress appropriately. No cut-offs, no tank tops, no inappropriate tee shirts. Remember you are setting an example for these younger players. Please be assertive, speak loud, blow the whistle loudly, try to keep up with the flow of the game by jogging back and forth. Do not just stand on one side of the field to make your calls.
- Remember if you accept to referee a game we are depending on you to show up. If something should happen and you are unable to referee you need to contact the director as soon as possible, so we can get coverage for your game. Please call the director as soon as possible!
- If you have any problems or concerns about a game you refereed, please call or email the director. We need your feedback to improve on any situations that may have occurred.
